PET Exam Structure for Teens

The B1 Preliminary PET for Schools version is tailored for younger candidates, featuring age-appropriate topics. The test consists of four sections:  

1. Reading (45 minutes)

  • Multiple-choice, matching, and gap-fill exercises.
  • Tests comprehension of signs, articles, and stories.
  • Focused on B1 Preliminary level reading skills as outlined in the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference).

2. Writing (45 minutes)

  • Short messages, emails, and story writing (100 words).

3. Listening (30 minutes)

  • Audio-based questions (monologues, conversations).
  • Evaluates the ability to follow spoken English, instructions, and everyday conversations.

4. Speaking (12-17 minutes)

  • Focuses on pronunciation, interaction, and fluency through guided and free discussion tasks.
